Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of CareerWise. They are written to be read, not to be skimmed past — the parts that limit what you can expect from us are stated plainly rather than buried.
Last updated 16 August 2026.
Draft. The operator's legal details have not been filled in yet, so this document does not name a responsible entity and should not be relied on as a binding agreement. It will be completed before payments go live.
1. Who you are agreeing with
CareerWise is operated by [legal entity or sole trader name], registered in [country] at [registered address]. “We” and “us” mean that entity; “you” means the person using the service. By using https://careerwise.me you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
2. What the service is
CareerWise reads a resume you provide, places the profile it extracts against published wage data and a reference dataset, and produces an orientation report: percentile positions, a salary comparison, skill gaps and suggested next steps.
What it is not: it is not career, financial, legal, tax or employment advice; not a recruitment service; not an offer of employment; and not a guarantee of any salary, interview or outcome. Nothing in a report creates an obligation on any employer, and no part of it should be treated as a professional opinion about your situation.
3. Accuracy, and its limits
We separate measured data from estimated data and label both on every report. Even so:
| Part of the report | What you should expect |
|---|---|
| Reading your resume | Performed by an AI model. It can misread a job title, miss a skill, or misjudge seniority. Check the role and years shown before relying on anything downstream. |
| Salary figures | Either measured wage statistics or our own estimates — always labelled. Even measured figures describe an occupation nationally, not your city, employer or industry. |
| Skill demand and courses | Curated approximations, not measurements from live job postings. Where your occupation falls outside our coverage, the report says so. |
| Career projections | Illustrative paths at typical pay levels. Not forecasts and not promises. |
The service is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that reports are accurate, complete or fit for any particular purpose. Our methodology page describes exactly how each figure is produced and where it is weak.
4. Your account
An account is optional — you can run an analysis without one. If you create one, you sign in with a link sent to your email address; keep access to that inbox secure, because anyone who controls it can reach your account. You must be at least 16 years old. Provide accurate information, and do not share your account with others.
5. Your content
Your resume and anything else you submit remain yours. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to process your submission, to send the text to the AI provider that extracts a structured profile from it, and — if you are signed in — to store the resulting report so you can see your history.
You confirm that you have the right to submit what you upload. Do not upload another person's resume or personal data without their consent, and do not upload material that is confidential to an employer without permission to share it.
6. Free and Pro
A free tier gives the core report. Pro unlocks the extended view. Where a paid plan is offered, Paddle acts as the merchant of record — they are the seller for the transaction, they handle payment, tax and invoicing, and their terms apply to the purchase alongside these. Prices are shown before you pay and may change for future purchases; a change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
Refunds are covered by our refund policy.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload unlawful material, malware, or content you have no right to share;
- attempt to extract our dataset in bulk, scrape the service, or use automated means to create analyses at scale;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute reports as your own product;
- interfere with the service's operation, probe its security, or circumvent access controls including paid-feature gating;
- use the service to make employment decisions about other people.
That last point matters to us: this tool is built to help a person understand their own position, and it is not validated for screening or assessing anyone else.
8. Our rights in the service
The software, design, wording and the reference dataset are ours or our licensors'. These terms give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service — nothing more. Wage statistics published by government agencies remain the work of those agencies and are attributed on the methodology page.
9. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service. We aim to keep it available but do not promise uninterrupted operation, and features may be added or removed. If we discontinue a paid feature you have already paid for, you are entitled to a pro-rata refund for the unused period.
We may update these terms. If a change materially reduces your rights, we will make it visible on the site before it takes effect rather than only changing the date at the top.
10. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the service at any time and delete your account, which deletes your stored analyses. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, or if we are required to by law. We will tell you why unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
11. Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost earnings, lost opportunities, or decisions you take based on a report — including salary negotiations, resignations, course purchases or job applications. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you never paid us, to nothing.
Nothing here limits liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by these terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [country], and disputes are subject to the courts there. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country and may bring proceedings there.
